Finding The Motivation
The other day I was on Twitter and stumbled on a tweet by a person who was asking "What to do when you can't find the motivation to go on?"
I thought that it was a great question, especially during this time when everything seems so depressing.
Everything just feels "Not worth the effort".
Our goals, our ambition, life, dreams.
I did a piece on this topic before it's called "Consistency, Consistency, Consistency", you can search the title in the search bar if you want to read.
I had paired the topic with 2 Corinthians 8:11.
"Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means."
I elaborated on one starting their spiritual walk and not completing the work set out for them, but today, I want to talk about goals that may be on the other side of achieving your spiritual desires.
Goals such as your vision to start a business, further your education, perfecting your health journey, investments, beginning ministry, and so forth.
To be quite frank with you, I feel like the same scripture can be used as well as the same idea used in my former blog for this one as well.
There has to be a reason why you had started.
A reason why you stepped out and begin the first time.
I'm a firm believer that finding the motivation to continue on is reminding yourself of the reason why you started in the first place.
Why did you start to create this business?
Why did you want to further schooling?
Why did you step into the gym the first time?
Why did you feel the need to begin that ministry?
When you begin to remember the WHY, then you begin to find the reason to complete the task.
I begin TheRay in hopes to create a family, an unorthodox group of people willing to learn and grow in God without shame.
To encourage others and bring souls to knowing God truthfully. No fame, no glitter. Just the advancement in the knowledge of God.
And, yes, I have experienced moments where I don't have the inspiration to pick up a pen. I have times when I don't want to get into the Word and study, or even create, but I try my best to remember why.
I can tell you at first hand, that it is harder to do than say. Sometimes you don't want to remember. Sometimes you feel so lazy to even do it even after you remember, but ask God to give you the strength to fight that funk.
Even if you are in this weird limbo or not, ask God to remind your spirit constantly of your purpose and to provide the strength for you to accomplish that goal He has given you the grace to do.
Yes, you have the option to wade through the water, or in other words, wait it out until this moment of unproductiveness pass, but you still will need to force yourself out.
Before I go, I want to remind you of this story about Elijah. (1 Kings 19)
It says that Elijah had become tired in his mission for God and had even asked God for Him to take his life.
Elijah was done and unmotivated. Tired. Discouraged.
However, instead of God completely shunning Elijah out, He provided strength and food for Elijah to continue on.
Elijah made God aware(even though it's not necessary to) that he was tired and God gave him the strength to go forth.
The motivation.
This is why I mentioned asking God for assistance. He understands and He is willing on assisting you to complete that task.
He cares about you completing your goal and achieving your dreams.
They aren't too small for Him or miscellaneous. He cares.
So, whenever you feel unmotivated, or in a dark place, God is able to understand our position and refresh us and revive us. We need only to ask.
Mark 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you"
I hope that this helps you when these rough patches come along because they do. I hope that we both reflect on these words and remind ourselves of the reason.
If you have any other techniques, drop them down in the comment section.
