Not The Image, The Heart

Image
1 Samuel 16:7 But the  Lord  said to Samuel, ā€œDo not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The  Lord  does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance,  but the  Lord  looks at the heart.ā€   There has been a huge misinterpretation of the body of Christ.  I know I may have spoken about this before, or possibly touch on this but I am going to reiterate it once again.  There is a huge problem when it comes to the image of the body of Christ.  The tradition of having the image of someone who loves and does not judge, or being filled with the Holy Spirit. Even the image of being kind to others is just that, an image.  We, as the body of Christ, are becoming too desirous of the image of being perfect than our hearts being perfect.  We portray kindness once there are eyes on us, we don't judge when it is convenient for us and we love in a small amount of doses, but this i...

Just The Way You Are!

Image
I was about to write my Fruit of The Month post, but I had this message burdened on my heart to release to you today.  God loves you and He thinks you're just okay! I was watching this Instagram reel the other day and this pastor was speaking about how a person who smoked was telling him that he wanted to be saved.  He said, "I want to be saved, but I smoke. Do I have to give up smoking?"  The pastor replied, "No"  The man was confused, and he reiterated, "No, I don't think you understand. I smoke pot"  The pastor replied, "You said you wanted to be saved, right?"  The man answered yes and the pastor said great. The man still confused asked again.  "Should I stop smoking because I want to be saved?"  The pastor replied, "No. Just get saved"  Now, I must admit that when the pastor first responded I was confused.  I was like, "Of course, he needs to stop smoking"  But, then the pastor continued and then I und...

How do you smell?

Image
1 Corinthians 2:15 "For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing." An aroma is a distinctive, pleasant smell.  The scripture above states that in the presence of God we are the pleasing aroma of Christ.  It also states this aroma that we have not only gives a pleasing effect to God but also brings conviction to those around us.  What we give off can either assist those in Christ to continue living a saved life or those in sin to stop living a sinful life.  How can you create this aroma? This aroma is created by accepting Jesus Christ into your life first.  It is accepting that He is the child of God that came to earth and was crucified for our sins and raised again to life three days after to sit at the right side of God.  It is a mixture of fragrances such as reading your Bible, applying the Word to your life, and being Christ-like.  It is combining oils such as prayer, fasting, spend...

Only God!

Image
Acts 4:12 "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved"  I've been in countless situations where when it comes to my rescue I either try to save myself or try to get another person to do it.  It took me a long time to figure out that in everything, only God will be able to bring me out.  I had looked to friends,  devices, family, my mother especially, and even to my husband when I find myself in a bind, but in the end, God showed me that it was only Him that I truly need. Now, the process of Him showing you this is a tough one to swallow.  Especially when your faith was as weak as mine was.  I didn't trust to depend on God too much when things get really real in my life.  I had this horrible mindset that the issue may be too big for God. That I needed to handle this myself.  So, when it came time to changing where I look for help, it was hard.  I know, we have a ...

To Be Remembered

Image
Luke 23:42-43 "Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise" This scripture is personally one of my top favorite verses.  Maybe it's because of the representation of the thief and the illustration of God's love even down to His final breaths that wins me over every single time.  The display of His sufficient grace still reaches out to us even when the last bit of sand is pouring into the hourglass. The thief, the sinner; the one who had been condemned, but God gave him a second chance before he died. Oftentimes, we hear people say they got saved on their sick beds, or before they die they gave their lives to God.  I am no judge and I can not tell you if these people get into Heaven on these kinds of technicalities, but this story is a bit similar to it.  Now, I am not telling you to live your life full of sin in hopes to get Jesus when you are about to die an...

Not By My Righteousness But By Your Mercy and Love

Image
Daniel 9:18 "Give ear, our God, and hear, open Your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears Your Name. We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy" I saw a post the other day that said, "Don't pray to God based on what you have done, but based on who He is"  It means that we often distance ourselves from praying the way we should or slow down in fasting, reading the Word of God, and even obeying His voice because of something that we may have done that is unworthy. We may have done something bad and allow the guilt to make us take a step back from getting into God's presence or doing what we have been instructed to do.  Unknowingly putting ourselves in a loop.  Not doing the things of God because we feel distant, then feeling distant because we are not doing the things of God.  I've fallen guilty about this many times but I've realized that it was all a scheme of the enemy.  We can not focus o...
