Do You Have These Fruits?- Goodness.

 

Yes, you are reading right! 

There's another fruit dropping this month and we are about to grab this too!

I realized that I missed a month, so I would use this to catch up so that we can be on the right track.

Today, we're talking about Goodness. 

When I began to meditate on this message, I assume that it would be just the same as Kindness (Gentleness), but I realized that Goodness was different in so many ways. 

When Kindness came with having compassion and adapting that into your nature, Goodness is the decision to do what is right.

The definition states:

*Goodness is the quality of being morally good or virtuous.

Now, right there, there's not much to go off, so I had to dig deeper and God let the words 'morally' and 'virtuous' stick out. 

So, in TheRay's fashion, I searched for the definition of those words also. 

Moral (Morally): Concern with the principles of right and wrong behavior.

Virtuous: Having or showing high moral standards.

Romans 12:21 

"Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good"

Galatians 6:10

"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,especially unto them who are of the household of faith. 

Psalm 37:3

"Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall thou dwell in the land, and verily thou well be fed"

With all of those scriptures above and the definition, I want us to focus on the fact that having the fruit of Goodness is first identifying what is Goodness. 

We must know right and wrong. 

What is good and what is not. 

How do we become aware of was it is morally good?

We do so by The Word of God. 

When you begin to seek God and spend time in His Word, which is the manual and book of instructions, you begin to gather discernment. 

It becomes easier for you to decipher what is right and what is wrong. Not only with the Word, but God Himself, begins to reveal it to you. 

Hebrews 4:12 tells us exactly how the Word is sharp enough to do so.

When we are knowledgeable of this, then we can proceed to acquire the fruit of Goodness. 

As mentioned before, the fruit of Goodness is the decision to do. 

In the scriptures above, each of them showed that doing good was a decision to do. 

Romans 12:21 say don't do evil for revenge but do good instead. 

Before the word good in Psalms 37:3 and Galatians 6:10, it says to do and then the word good follows right after.

This is because when you have deciphered what is good, you must do what is good so that can you produce the fruit of Goodness. 

Only when you make this a practice does this fruit make you virtuous. 

You know how shows often tell the story of the little angel on one shoulder and the other should is occupied by a little devil?

Well, this is what attaining the fruit of Goodness is like. 

We are constantly going to be in a state where good and bad will present itself to us. 

We are always going to be torn between decisions. 

One decision is going to be good and the other may not be too good. 

But, I promise you with the help of God's Word in deciphering what is right and wrong, it will soon become easy for us to do what is right.

Let's try to put it into practice and not only say we are good or say we are going to do good but actually do it.
