Can't Fill What's Already Occupied
One of my favorite songs that I love "Empty Me"-by William Murphy was playing in my head while I was cleaning and the chorus goes:
"Empty me
Empty me Yeah
Fill
Won't You fill me?
With You!
While I was singing the song God said these words to me,
"I can not fill what's already occupied"
Whew!
Typing that alone sent a chill down my spine, how deep that is.
God is constant want of wanting to fill us and pour into us whether it be love, His anointing, strength, wisdom, power, direction, etc.
To metaphorically speak, His hand is always holding the cup of what we need over our containers ready to pour into us.
However, in most cases, our containers are never always empty for what we actually need to be let in.
In order for God's will to be done in our lives, we must be empty and ready for His Holy Spirit to abide in us.
His gentleman of a Holy Spirit is not going to barge into our lives, but He's going to stand on the other side of the door until we allow Him in.
I'm reminded of the many persons in the bible who were delivered from evil spirits. The evil spirits were cast out before the Holy Spirit can move in.
They were emptied before they were filled.
They invited the Holy Spirit in.
How are we saying no to His invite?
When our homes are still filled with our own motives, agenda, ways, worries, selfishness, self-independence, sin, and so forth.
When we are filled to capacity with these trivial things, our Holy Father can't step into the place we may be crying out for Him to fill.
William Murphy asked for himself to be empty first before he can be filled. Not to just be filled.
He asked God to move everything that's not of Him before stepping in.
To get rid of everything that stopped the Holy Spirit from not accepting His full invitation.
Today let's work on getting rid of all the things that we may be burdened with that are preventing us from being occupied by the Holy Spirit.
Let us be conscious of what we are carrying and holding onto. Ask God to empty us of everything that is not of Him, so that we can be filled to the brim by Him.
Let's empty ourselves of the old so that we can be ready for when in a twinkle of an eye He comes.
Ask God to purge us, cleanse us, wash us, make us whole. To no longer be fattened, or filled by anything that is not of Him.
"God, I don't want to deter You any longer from filling me. I empty myself of what's not of You. Empty me, Lord, and fill me with You. Fill me with Your love, Your Wisdom, Your Holy Spirit, Your Word until I overflow!"
