I Am Not Okay

Emotions Inspirational God TheRayDestiny Quotes

To remain mentally stable in this recent time seems almost impossible. It is a constant battle that most people are plagued with.

I see now more than ever why Romans 12:2 was given to us.

It tells us to not be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what God's will is,-His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

I found myself in the neverending battle of avoiding confessing that "I am Not okay".

That I wasn't fine.

Or, 'good'.

I didn't want to sound like I was losing it. Or, a hypocrite.

An encourager not being able to uplift herself was a bit sad.

I hid my true feelings and self, with "I'm okay", "I'm good.

However, I realized that not admitting the truth obscured me from being real with myself. It stopped me from inquiring for assistance and prolonged my recovery.

This is what covering up how you truly feel is like. This is the worst kind of faking or pretending. This hurts us more than helps us.

I am currently reading the book of Psalm and I truly admire the relationship and connection David shared with God.

I know I have mentioned it before in one of my posts, but David truly was one to not beat around the bush when it came to confessing to God exactly what he was feeling or where he was at in life.

He held absolutely no secrets between him and God, regardless of how it may sound when confessing it.

He told God when he felt like he was drifting away. He told God when he was drowning in worry and life.

He told God when he was Not okay!

What I admire the most about this transaction was that David wasn't afraid to tell God that He wasn't fine and God never hesitated to come to the rescue.

God never turned a deaf ear to him. He never shut him out. God never told him to shut up.

This made me realize that God can be a listening ear too. That me going to Him is not uncomfortable as I overthought it would be.

He is open to hearing me. He is open and ready for us to confess to Him that we aren't okay when we aren't because He wants to help us be okay.

He doesn't only want to see us or hear from us after the fact, or when we have sinned, but when are going through the motions.

He calls himself a friend for a reason.

He wants us to confide in Him. To consult Him. To vent to Him. To inquire to Him.

Psalm 71:2
"In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me. Incline Your ear to me and save me"

Doesn't it comfort you knowing that regardless of how low you may be, once you confess it to God, He is ready to rescue you?

He's ready to deliver you.

Hear you.

Yes, He knows your heart and He may very well know that you aren't doing fine, but the fact that you confess it shows that you have trust in Him.

He cares to hear about our issues. He cares to hear about what's bothering us. He cares to hear about us!

You not being okay doesn't and will never change the way He feels about you.
