Dreaming Dreams? Part One.
To dive into the world of dreams and their interpretations is a very deep dive.
Dreams are speculative and unpredictable. They can also be very unreliable and unrelatable.
Dreams are often deeply analyzed in reality as some form of direction or prediction for the future in our lives.
These predictions are neither true nor false.
I've had numerous of dreams that I have seen come to pass as well as others that were just nothing, but that, a dream.
The Bible houses numerous stories about persons that have wandered into dreamland.
You have in 1 Samuel 28:15 with Saul summoning Samuel and Genesis 20:3 when God showed up to Abimelek in a dream. These were all examples of dreams being a source of communication.
In Acts 2:17, God describes it as a gift given by the Holy Spirit in the last days.
With King Nebuchadnezzar and Pharoah, they were warnings.
Dreams to me are what the Bible speaks them to be.
When you read stories about Joseph (Jesus' earthly father) being warned in a dream, or how God sent directions to Paul through a dream to visit Macedonia (Acts 16:9). Or, when God sent instructions to Peter to visit Cornelius (Acts 10:9). These examples prove it.
Dreams are a spiritual channel that God can use to communicate to us or basically anything else that can tap into the spiritual world.
King Nebuchadnezzar was told through a dream about how long he would rule if he doesn't get it together. (Daniel 2)
Dreams can also make one become spiritually aware of God's will.
They are broken down in a way that our physical mind can digest. Images, vision, colors, voices.
Albeit some dreams are not easy to decipher. Even in the Bible, there were times for interpreters to step in to help. Like Joseph in jail interpreting the baker and the butler's dream. (Genesis 40)
Or, Daniel with Nebuchadnezzar.
But, the dreams still serve their intended purpose because spiritually being translated into a dream is enough to break it down for us to even fathom to ask for help.
Dreams can be pointless or vital.
I know!
How can something from the spiritual realm be pointless?
Well, remember our spirits can be open to a lot of trivial things if we don't guard them.
If our spirits are open to worrying, or if we desire something so much we think about it consistently. Maybe we are anxious about our health or job and so forth.
Even if our spirits are open to jealousy, cheating, lust, and so on with sinful things. It is quite possible for our dreams to incorporate those things.
It is running contrary in our spirits therefore, it will muck about in our dreams.
Ecclesiastes 5:7
"Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God."
This isn't only limited to what I listed either, this could expand to what you watched before you fall asleep, what you were talking about that day, or even read.
Because I am aware of this, when I am going to sleep I pray that my dreams be only a source of communication of what God has to say or reveal to me or that I do not dream at all.
I am not saying that it is wrong to dream of pointless dreams, but I personally prefer to have none if that's the case.
Sometimes, pointless dreams even make sense, but once spiritually analyzed they are not.
They have no real meaning behind them.
So, how do we decipher these dreams?
Pointless and Vital?
I will explain this and then cut it because I am realizing this is going to have to be a series. So stick in for part two!
So, how do we distinguish these?
What is needed in the spiritual realm for knowing what is right and wrong?
Discernment!
We must ask God for the knowledge to decipher our dreams.
He normally instructs or gives you a nudge if you should go deeper into the meaning of the dream.
I would sometimes have a dream where it can be well put together, but when I ask God to help me understand it, He doesn't give me the nudge to go deeper.
Sometimes these dreams won't even be remembered after a time.
Now for the vital dreams.
These dreams are well put together and when I say that I don't necessarily mean perfectly clear.
They are often in parables, but when you awake from these dreams you feel the stir within in your spirit that these dreams must be looked deeper into.
You often have when people wake up from a dream they say, "I don't like how I feel about that dream"
That is because these dreams must be spiritually analyzed and interpreted.
I am aware that not all of us are like Joseph and Daniel and may need to seek out an interpreter when need to. That's fine.
Interpretation can be done by someone who has the gift or by the assistance of God revealing certain revelations. The Bible also has some illustrations of what some particles in dreams may mean (I'll dive into this in part two).
Vital dreams as mentioned earlier can be crystal clear and straight to the point or even done in a way that requires a bit more effort to understand, however, the way you feel when you wake up will always be the same.
Vital dreams will always be ones that will leave your spirit awakened because this is what it is sent to communicate with.
To send awareness, instructions, warnings, encouragement, and so forth.
I wish I could go on with this, but I feel like the post may be too long.
So, I'll just end it here and stay tuned for the next portion of Dreaming Dreams?
