For Our Sake, We Must Remember

TheRayDestiny Inspirational Quotes Blog Post

So I am currently reading the Word of God and I normally would finish doing so before writing, but I was only able to finish one chapter before this session start to download to me.

Psalm 106

It's a long chapter, but it mostly talks about the journey of the Israelites through their time in Exodus from David's Point of View.

In one of the verses, which is verse 13, it says.

"But soon they forgot what He had done and did not wait for His counsel"

This was after David tells us about God splitting the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross.

This huge miracle, so big that thousands of years later it is still talked about, was forgotten by the Israelites along with so many others.

The Israelites witness the signs and wonders of God when He sent plagues on the Egyptians.

They witness how powerful He is as He sent a death angel and wiped out every firstborn, except theirs.

They witness how final His Word is when He spoke things and they came into existence.

They witness how true He was to His promises. He told them they would have bread and meat to eat, as well as they would make it to the land flowing with milk and honey.

God's rapport was so spectacular and trustworthy for the Israelites to rely on, yet David stated in Psalm 106 the number of times they forgot.

That made me think because how could such miraculous signs be performed right in front of their faces and be forgotten so quickly.

I mean, I can understand us in this age and time forgetting or not knowing about these things because they happen so long ago. We weren't there.

We can't attest to them. We don't have eyewitnesses of these events being true, but the Israelites did.

They witness God move on their behalf so many times, it should have been impossible for them even to forget one of those events.

Yet, they did.

And every single time it cost them.

The verse said that when they forgot they did not wait for His counsel.

That meant they rush into things without the wise advice or instructions of God.

It's crazy because God has been directing them for everything in their lives and because of their forgetfulness, they rush into something or try to do something without Him.

The Israelites aren't the only ones that I can point out for their forgetfulness of God's wonders.

The disciples can also hold a position in this race.

After Jesus had fed 4,000 people with just 7 loaves and a few small fish, they forgot.

Jesus told them to watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and although they saw in the Spirit how powerful Jesus can be (i.e the feeding) they had already forgotten and were now looking in the flesh.

They assumed He was talking about the bread that they have, but Jesus asked them in verses 17 and 18.

"Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?"

He went on to remind them of the miracle He had just done.

He literally just fulfilled it.

What am I trying to relay to you today? To us?

I want to encourage us to remember!

For Our Sake, we need to remember the God whom we serve.

Many of us, if not all of us are going to go through some things that are not going to require strength, prayers, or speaking of tongues and so forth, but our remembrance.

When we begin to remember what God has done in our lives, then trusting Him is going to be much easier.

Faith in Him is going to be much easier.

When going through it, I often kept hearing the word 'Remember' drop in my spirit.

I would pray, fast, would do all I can do, but He would only respond with 'remember'.

So I did.

I not only remember what He has delivered me from before, although, that can assist, I also remembered Who God is!

He's a healer.

A deliver.

A restorer!

A Waymaker!

A miracle worker!

A fighter!

A redeemer!

A Comforter!

A Provider!

He specializes in being I Am!

That means anything that you need from Him, you can put at the end of I Am and He will be.

This is what I had to remember!

The Israelites weren't forgetting what God did, nor was the disciples forgetting about the feeding of the four thousand, they were forgetting about the God whom they serve.

I encourage you today to not let the enemy eat away at the memory of who you have God as.

We all have recollections of who God is.

Whether they were personal encounters or what we've read in the Bible.

Let us not let the enemy taint our images of who God has been and will be.

Let's not make our situation bigger than what our memory of God should be.

Remember!

Remember!

Remember when He stepped in for you!

Remember when He made possible that thing that wasn't!

Remember when He gave you that miracle that you never knew you would've had!

Remember the comfort!

Remember when He rescued you!

God is telling us today to Remember! Remember!
