My Breakthrough Is With Me!
I was praying the other day, or talking to God, and the story of Jesus in the storm with His disciples began to unfold to me.
We all know the story and I am not referring to the one where Peter walks on water.
No.
I am referring to the one where Jesus told the wind to hush and the waves to stop their chaotic movement.
My breakthrough is with me!
Mark 4:5-41 is where you can read the story.
At the beginning of the context, it said that God told the disciple to "Let's go to the other side"
An instruction or direction is given directly from God. However, in verse 37, after the disciples along with Jesus were already in the boat, a furious squall came up.
It said that the waves broke over the boat, meaning it crashed so hard that water came up and over the boat to the point that it even begin to fill a little bit.
Even then, they were still dealing with the furious squall, which means a very strong and intense wind.
Here they were doing what Jesus had instructed and now they were going through a storm.
Jesus was the one that told them to let's go to the other side.
They were doing what He commanded, yet here they were facing such a terrible storm that at a point they believe they were soon about to die.
How many of us have been in such predicaments?
We're going out to do the work of God, but it seems like the warfare has intensified so great that we begin to question whether it is really His instructions?
He told you to go to this person and you did, but the result is chaotic.
He told you to move here and you did, but now it feels like doing so was a big mistake because you've encountered bad things after bad things.
He told you that this is your season and you received it and embrace it, but ever since this season rolled in, you've been battling!
You are doing what He says but it doesn't feel good the way you thought it would.
Something has to be wrong.
But, it's not.
Testing comes to purify and make you stronger.
I battled with that revelation.
God told me that at the beginning part of this year, but I battled with it.
I don't necessarily like the idea of being tested and hurt.
No one likes the idea of enduring hardship and pain.
But, God told me that it is a requirement to bring forth pure gold.
It is a requirement to bring the necessary product to its entitled destiny.
We HAVE to go through the fire.
Gold and diamonds are not purified or modified to perfection until they have gone through fire.
Many of our destinies are not going to be achieved unless we endure some tough times.
Because, and God says this, only then will be able to appreciate what He's about to bless us with.
If He was to bless us with what we want or what He has for us without us going through the fire, we're going to mishandle it.
And, when it should have lasted us for a lifetime, it's going to only last us for a moment because we don't value its worth.
Ok, so you know and I know, that the storm of our lives is mandatory.
It has a purpose. So we must go through.
I am not here to expand on that, I am here to expand on the going through part.
When I was talking to God and He dropped this scripture in my heart, He didn't point out the hardship of what the disciples were going through, but He told me to focus on the part where they had their breakthrough with them all the while.
In verse 38, it says that Jesus was asleep in the stern part of the boat.
The Saviour, the King of kings and Lord of lords was asleep in the back of the boat!
The one who could speak and planets form was with them all along!
The disciples were in the front of the boat drenched in panic that what has come upon them was going to kill them, but they weren't aware that what they needed to get through this storm was with them all along.
Your breakthrough is with you!
God is saying to you who is going through. To you who are saying, "If I could just make it through this storm".
To you who are asking God for a breakthrough, He's telling you that your breakthrough is already with you!
Why are you searching?
"Yay, though I walk through the valley of shadow death, I will fear no evil for THOU art with me!"
He says, "He shall call upon me and I will deliver him. I will be WITH him in trouble!"
God does not remove Himself from us in the midst of the storm.
He is present.
We don't have to wait for the breakthrough to come to us, it is already with us!
I told you I am going through some things right now and when I was praying to God. I kept saying, God, I need a breakthrough. I need a breakthrough. I need this to break so I can get through this and He said, I AM here!
He is the breakthrough.
He is the bridge over troubled waters.
He isn't far from us.
He's right in the stern!
In verse 38 the disciples went to Jesus for help and in verse 39, the very storm that plague them ceased to exist.
The breakthrough they were trying to seek was right there with them!
I can imagine them on the boat.
The storm raged and in their minds, they were thinking that their breakthrough was just them making it to the other side, but God uses foolish things to confound the wise.
Their breakthrough wasn't the shore, but it was the man in the stern who was with them all along.
I encourage you today to draw on that strength.
Draw on that knowledge that your breakthrough is not far, it's not something you gotta wait for, but it's with you.
It's found in your belief in Christ.
