Seeing The Good Again!
I was in prayer the other day and I was reminded of how innocent my mind was in the beginning.
I always gave the benefit of the doubt. I always forgive. I always saw the good in people or things. I use to make it my goal to make others smile or to see and bring out the good in others.
Now, I have reduced those traits. Mainly because of being hurt, other reasons beings it would make me too naive right?
To think like that right now, would cause me to be taken advantage of, wouldn't it?
I know many of us have been hurt, betrayed, and wronged by people who we loved and that has changed how we view the world evidently.
We don't allow people to get close to us anymore and we sure look for the bad in others before we even see the good.
I am not saying that we should ignore bad vibes and be ignorant of someone's selfish motives, but I think it's time for us to start seeing the good again.
It's been too long now with us seeing the world in grey and dark glasses.
That isn't the life that God would want for us. It's giving 'fear'.
Fear to love, fear to trust, fear to believe, and fear to hope again. (1 Timothy 2:7)
I'm reminded of the scripture when Jesus told the disciples that in order for them to enter the kingdom of God they would have to become like children/ little ones. (Matthew 18:3)
I have a niece and a nephew and the way they see the world is so different from how I see it. They see adventure, fun, opportunity, chances.
Good.
Yes, it may be because they don't know what I know so they still see it as such. God knows that we can't revert our beings back to one of a child. He knows that we can't just forget about what we have seen and experienced to pretend that the world isn't what we have summed it out to be.
What He wants is for us to renew our minds, our thoughts, and the way we hope and believe.
When we gave second chances. When we love first before hating.
When we saw good.
God knows I would love to get back to seeing the good in people again.
To see the good in situations and the world. To not quickly judge people poorly or if a blessing comes to be suspicious about it.
To see good in ourselves. In our jobs.
To look at the light despite the darkness that hangs in the distance.
To know that yes, beyond the garden there may be weeds, but there's still this beautiful garden.
No, He's not asking us to be naive. He's not asking to forget, but He's asking us to remember that there is still good too.
Seeing the world consistently in a negative way would always have a damper on your mood. It can make you paranoid and very wary of trusting anything and anyone.
How can you enjoy the life God has given you that way?
How can even recognize His grace or even His blessings that way?
How can you accept His favor when you just assume the worse?
Let's get back to seeing the good in people and things. To become like little children once again. Able to forgive, to love, and to see the best regardless of what we know.
