Living by Your Expectation
What do you mean by that?
They say that when you expect things or people to be what you want or need they often make you disappointed.
That is definitely correct.
Jeremiah 17:5
"This is what the Lord says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord"
But, I'm talking about living life in expectation!
It's the act of living your life by what you are hoping for to come to pass.
It's to live your life in constant expectation of the blessings of God as well as the breakthrough.
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see"
In the entirety of Jesus' life, He lived in expectation.
He lived in expectancy of the cross, of dying to be resurrected and to be seated at the right hand of God. He lived in expectation of trials and tribulations so that He can overcome them.
He lived in wait to perform miracles and to show the power of God in casting out demons.
As believers, we must learn to live in this level of expectancy in our lives.
We must live in the mindset that our lives are only the beginning of what God has for us. That we are promised rooms in a mansion located in a city of gold and royals who have jewels in their crowns.
I believe if we begin to live with this kind of expectancy then we'll see a decline in the percentage of followers of Christ who are easily defeated.
We will see fewer persons downtrodden, discouraged,d and depressed. Fewer persons who are ready to throw in the towel and give up at the first sign of distress.
It will be less because we are now living in expectancy of this. The expectation that this too shall pass and that there is a reward in store for us.
I'm not going to pretend and say that living like this is easy. I admit this is hard work-- living in expectation because life is not easy and sometimes there are more bad than good.
However, I also know that when one lives in expectation blessings are likely to happen.
Growth is prune to occur.
Healing, recovery, and being happy are likely to come.
Because living like this has nothing to do with ourselves and people or things around us, but everything to do with our faith in God and His power to fulfill our expectations according to His will.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He knows the plans that He has for us, plans to give us a prosperous and expected end.
In Joshua 21:45, it speaks about how He fulfilled every promise that He had made to the Israelites.
He is not slack concerning His promises and there is a 100% guarantee that our expectation in Him will never cost us.
So, let's stop focusing and always anticipating the bad that can happen in our lives, instead let us live in expectation that every promise He has said will be fulfilled.
Let's live knowing that in the end, there is prosperity for us.
